The Plant Technician performs a wide range of operations and maintenance tasks at the Healy Power Station. Generally, but not always, a Plant Technician will be assigned to rotating 12 hour shift operations.
The Plant Technician operates plant systems and equipment from the floor of the plant. The position is the observation, auditory and hands-on function for the Control Room Operator. Performs preventive maintenance while on shift and assists Mechanic and E&I Technicians as needed.
Plant Technician responsibilities include operating heavy mobile equipment to move coal, ash, snow and silt.
This is the entry level O&M position at the station, and as such the Plant Technician is expected to develop a wide range of capabilities. This position provides the opportunity to observe and participate in both maintenance and operations activities.
Technical training in the operation and maintenance of coal-fired power plant systems, heavy equipment, and material handling systems preferred.
Two years experience operating heavy equipment such as loader, dozer, backhoe etc. is preferred.
Five years’ experience in coal-fired power plant operations and maintenance is preferred.
