Must be able to do cost efficient design of new line extensions, system improvement projects and maintenance projects that will meet all applicable regulations and to ensure adequate, safe and reliable electrical service to members at the lowest possible cost consistent with industry standards.
Including the following (other duties may be assigned):
Must be able to design, stake, and prepare staking sheets for new line extensions in accordance with RUS Specifications, the National Electric Safety Code, and Bandera Electric Standards.
Need to have a good working knowledge of all tools and equipment needed to stake lines.
Assist with the two-year and long-range work plan as needed.
Be able to determine property lot lines by locating survey pins and studying survey plats.
Must be able to secure all easements/permits that may be required and notarizes and files as needed.
Check staking sheets for accuracy and design; easements and permits for accuracy, completeness and legality; and all correspondence for accuracy.
Must have a complete knowledge of Cooperative's Tariff and Polices along with the Rules and Regulations. Also, know the electric cooperative's concept and history.
Must be able to work with engineering consulting firms in the preparation of work orders.
Help train new or reassigned employees assigned to the department.
Must be able to meet member-consumers on location to determine construction needs in providing electric service.
Must be able to meet with Subdivision developers to explain the Cooperative's Policies and design and stake trunk lines as needed.
Prepare and distribute miscellaneous reports as required and ensure that all reports are timely compiled and delivered to the immediate supervisor.
Cordially and efficiently handle and assist others in dealing with member/employee questions and complaints.
To provide an accurate line extension survey, including required information for highway permits and easements, which meets RUS, NEC, NESC and BEC specifications accommodating the applicant’s requests.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in distribution engineering or through an associate's degree in engineering.
Must have valid Texas driver’s license and related insurance.
Approximately 75% of the job duties will take place outdoors and 25% will take place indoors. Tobacco free, professional indoor office environment. Irregular hours that include nights, weekends and holidays.
Also be subject to working trouble calls when needed. Traveling outside the service area and overnight travel, when required. Working under stressful situations is required.
