ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT
To provide efficient and quality maintenance of the Warren RECC's various communications systems including voice, fiber, telephone, and data.
To provide efficient and quality maintenance of electronic devices and equipment including electronic controls, SCADA system, test equipment, and other electronic devices requiring repair or calibration.
To provide maintenance to data equipment such as personal computers, printers, modems, fax machines, etc. This also includes associated wiring and cabling systems.
Reports to: Communications Systems Supervisor
Troubleshoots, tests, repairs, installs and performs preventative maintenance on various communications systems and equipment including voice radio, SCADA radio, telephone systems, regulator controls, capacitor controls, capacitor communications, backup generators and UPS equipment.
Installs and repairs fiber optic cable and associated equipment.
Repairs and maintains SCADA system and calibrates all SCADA transducers.
Performs minor repairs on various IT equipment including personal computers, printers, modems, and fax machines.
Installs, terminates, troubleshoots, and repairs various wiring systems, including substation, telephone, computer network, printing, and paging.
Installs and maintains security systems, electronic door locks, security cameras and electronic entry gates.
Tests and installs automatic vehicle location (AVL) systems in vehicles.
Tests and installs battery systems in all communication rooms.
Performs board and component level repair on various devices and systems.
Maintains test equipment.
Assists in planning for needs of the section in the areas of equipment, maintenance procedures, and calibrations.
Recognizes conditions detrimental to system operations and reports such conditions promptly.
Works according to safety rules and policies adopted by Warren RECC, is responsible for own safety, and reports all accidents to supervisor.
Complies with traffic laws, regulations, and safe practices while operating any company vehicle.

POSITION: Communications/Electronics Technician
Associates Degree in Electronics and/or Communications or equivalent.
Five years progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of electronic devices (preferably those used in the electric utility industry) and/or radio communications systems specifically UHF and VHF voice radio, 900 MHz and 6 GHz microwave radio systems, fiber optic systems, and data equipment. Troubleshooting experience is a must in maintenance of these systems.
Must have knowledge and understanding of electronic terminology, circuit analysis, safety techniques, test equipment, and electronic wiring systems. Must have the ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems. Must be able to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Must be able to work in a repair lab and in field situations. Must be able to execute daily work assignments and be able to maintain accurate records. Must be able to work with others, as well as individually. Must have proficient computer skills.
Must be able to work in all types of weather. Some heavy lifting is required. Must keep work areas and vehicles in a neat and presentable manner. Must be able to perform standby duty and to work overtime as required.
Must have a valid driver's license.
