The Instrumental Technician position is responsible for the following: repair, adjust, and calibrate equipment of steam-generating plant; maintain continuous emission system; inspect, test, adjust, and repair electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments; and perform other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains, calibrates, programs, and monitors Data Acquisition System (DAS), Digital Electro-Hydraulic (DEH), Digital Control System (DCS), computers, environmental analyzers and equipment, transmitters, electronic equipment, lab analyzers, sensor loops, solenoids, transducers, and controllers.
Records calibration data.
Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes made in instruments, circuits, and systems.
Conducts environmental regulatory tests and prepares reports.
Inspects meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations.
Tests accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors, and other recording, indicating or controlling instruments to locate defective components in system.
Uses test equipment such as pressure gauges, mercury manometers, potentiometers, pulse and signal generators, oscilloscopes, transistor curve tracers, ammeters, voltmeters, and wattmeters.
Traces out and tests electronic solid state and vacuum tube circuitry and components to locate defective parts in analog and digital, protection, or radiation monitoring systems, using test equipment, schematics, and manuals.
Removes defective instruments from system, and decontaminates, disassembles, and cleans instruments.
Lubricates instruments and replaces defective wiring and tubing.
Interprets maintenance and repair manuals.
Repairs, replaces, or rebuilds solenoids.
Maintains burner levels (scanners).
May develop programs for Process Logic Controller (PLC) operations.
Provides and maintains safe and clean work area.
Performs on-call duties for seven-day periods.
Minimum Associate Degree in Instrument Technology and 5years in related field. Power plant experience preferred
