Assists and provides guidance to member systems with reliability and power quality concerns in the role of a member system advocate. Supports Hoosier Energy Key Account Managers as needed with special projects. Represents Hoosier Energy with a positive, solution focused attitude supporting company objectives and coop principals. Maintains and improves customer relations with member systems. Monitors transmission and substation events on both the Hoosier Energy and neighboring utility systems that impact service to member systems. Monitors transmission level events that affect the reliability of the bulk electric system. Performs root cause analysis as appropriate. Analyze outage and momentary data from a broad and local view and provide recommendations for improvement as appropriate. Develops corporate reliably justification criteria and use such criteria to justify reliably projects accordingly. Develops broad and specific cause codes and code each transmission event that occurs accordingly. Develops and automates reliability reporting for internal and external use that can include reliability analysis, senior management, System Control, operations, planning, maintenance, key accounts, member systems, economic development and neighboring utilities. Develops procedures for improved documentation of root cause of outage and momentary events. Completes reports such as quarterly reliability reports, board reports, benchmarking with other utilities and so forth. Provides focus on issues surrounding the most impacted delivery points and key account customers. Keeps abreast of industry trends and evolving technology. Networks with organizations such as neighboring utilities, North American Transmission Forum (NATF), Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and manufacturing reps in areas that include reliability justification, cause code development, interruptions reporting and documentation. Assists with NERC compliance as needed to assure compliance with all NERC and RE reliability standards. Provides assistance as needed with processes and procedures impacting System Control such as managing the load curtailment plan that involves member systems and assisting with iTOA outage tracking software.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors and analyzes outage data on a daily basis striving for a root cause determination of significant events, serve as point of contact to member system and neighboring utility personnel and report on reliability measures on a quarterly basis.
Pursues continual improvement by working closely with transmission planning, system control, power delivery and key accounts personnel as well as member system and neighboring utility personnel in the development of pro-active plans to address areas of reliability concern.
Assists with complying with NERC / RE standards as needed.
Continual review and improvement of reporting and communication methods and procedures.
Becomes familiar with all processes and procedures impacted by transmission system reliability including but not limited to outage scheduling, reporting, MISO TLR events, OASIS scheduling, power flow review and etc.
Actively participates in NATF reliability and metric working groups.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or any technical discipline that prepares the individual to understand the operation of an electric utility transmission system and perform reliability assessments.
Minimum of 5 years experience in the electric utility / power industry.
Individual must have a thorough knowledge of the power industry and an understanding of power flow applications, as well as be able to demonstrate a proficiency in database and spreadsheet management.
Minimum of 8 years in transmission planning, design, operations or related disciplines will be considered in lieu of educational background.
