EDUCATION: Require Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Prefer a Degree in Electrical Engineering. Prefer significant progress toward EIT certification and undergraduate curriculum including engineering related to the field of electrical power distribution and transmission. Prefer PMP certification. Exception to these requirements may be made only if the applicant demonstrates that he/she is currently pursuing a program of self development through a formal program of extension education.
EXPERIENCE: Require one year of responsible electrical distribution experience involved in engineering design and layout for the expansion of the electric distribution system, power requirements, and related specifications and codes. Specialized education and training may be considered in lieu of or equivalent to a portion of the experience requirements.
KNOWLEDGE: Require a thorough knowledge of basic electrical engineering principles including three phase power calculations, electrical rotating machines, transformer theory, and AC and DC circuit analysis. Require a thorough knowledge of basic mechanical design and engineering economics. Prefer a working knowledge of the application of engineering principles and practices involved in the design and layout of electrical overhead and underground distribution systems, the National Electric Code, National Electrical Safety Code, and RUS Specification and construction assemblies.
SKILLS: Require ability to pursue a continuous program of self-development both inside and outside of work hours in furthering his/her knowledge to develop in the job and accept increasing responsibilities. Require the characteristics necessary for providing effective leadership, guidance, training, and direction. Require the ability to develop schedules and procedures for the collection of system engineering data and be able to arrange and report such data in a manner useful for planning purposes; the ability to work with personal computers and applicable software; ability to develop and carry out plans for the most effective use of work time; ability to establish and maintain effective supportive relationships and make a contribution when participating in planning and development of work programs, budgets, work flow, and improved reporting. |
