Wolverine Power Cooperative is currently seeking a protection and maintenance engineer to join our team! Wolverine is a generation and transmission electric cooperative headquartered in beautiful Cadillac, Michigan. We are owned by and supply wholesale electric power to seven-member cooperatives throughout Michigan, who have served rural portions of Michigan's Lower Peninsula for nearly 70 years and provide electricity to more than 260,000 homes, farms, and businesses. We own and operate 7 generation plants, 185 substations, and 1,600 miles of transmission line throughout the state of Michigan.
Responsibilities for the protection and maintenance engineer include:
Obtaining and maintain system data and computer programs necessary to provide all information required for short circuit studies and for various coordination studies, including protective relaying, fuse and recloser coordination of the generation, transmission and distribution system equipment;
Assisting in the proper installation, operation and maintenance of system protection equipment;
Developing annual work plans for maintenance activities and implementing preventative maintenance program for Wolverine's transmission and distribution facilities meeting NERC requirements;
Planning, scheduling and coordinate all maintenance activities with other key departments
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university;
EIT registration is preferred;
Three years' experience with system protection is preferred;
Field experience with power system equipment maintenance is preferred;
Must have sound analytic skills and should be able to manage specific design projects;
Must have a working knowledge of electric utility systems;
Familiarity with NERC reliability standards is preferred;
