Farmers Electric Cooperative is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer. This position will have a wide variety of responsibilities including SCADA, distribution automation, system design, planning, distributive generation, and inspections. The successful applicant must be self-motivated, have problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required. An EIT Certification is desired. A higher level of education or certification is a plus. The starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications.

Job Knowledge, Training and Experience: Knowledge of electrical system design.
Required Education and Special Training: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum or equivalent.
Equipment Operated: Must be proficient in the use of computer terminals, personal computers, standard office equipment, and engineering devices/equipment as they relate to Farmers EC engineering and operations. A valid driver’s license is required.
Abilities and Skills: Good oral and written communication skills. Must have extensive problem-solving skills, and be able to organize work to meet deadlines. Must have the ability to work independently and perform the activities necessary to complete work assignments described in the position description. Work requires attention to detail and the completion of reports, which require a high degree of accuracy and detail. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Supervisor screens assignments for unusual or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work. Receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments.
Physical Effort: Must be able to perform the activities listed in the position description. Position activities may require some climbing, bending, lifting, and engaging in active fieldwork.
Working Conditions: Work is both inside and outside in adverse weather conditions. Some irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays required.
After an offer of employment has been made, Farmers EC requires a physical, which will include both alcohol and drug testing and a pre-employment physical.
