The Springfield Headquarters is seeking experienced applicants for an Energy Risk Management Specialist position in the Energy Risk Management (ERM) Division reporting directly to the Senior VP & Chief Risk Officer. The Energy Risk Management Specialist will be responsible for performing a variety of duties to report and measure portfolio risk in support of Power Marketing activities. Specifically, the role will be responsible for reporting the monthly portfolio model report. This report uses the output of AECI’s monthly stochastic model results to measure, monitor and report AECI’s future risk positions. The report is used to continually monitor AECI’s market risks and how they change through time. The Energy Risk Specialist will use knowledge of the market and knowledge of the AECI Portfolio of assets to access how changes will affect risks. The report will provide commentary on these changes on a monthly basis. This position will play a significant role in the development, design and scope of the Energy Compliance Program and should be able to proficiently summarize, communicate and educate on Energy Risk fundamentals, including mark-to-market, stochastic modeling and various risk calculations.
The Energy Risk Management Specialist will also be responsible for managing AECI’s corporate Key Risk registry and maintaining the Key Risk mitigation plans by working with various SMEs whom are responsible for managing these risks throughout AECI. This position will be a key contributor to ERM and aid the SVP in monitoring all risks with third parties, preparing reports for monthly risk management meetings where monthly risk reports are explained. This role will validate any forward energy curves that are utilized to mark-to-market energy transactions and maintain the Trading Authority Matrix, Risk Policy and Transaction Execution Process and updates as necessary. This position also supports the administration and negotiation of energy contracts. As a key leader and member of the ERM Division, this position plays a major support role to the Power Marketing Department and Accounting & Finance Department.
What are we looking for?
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting Finance, Engineering and/or equivalent knowledge and experience (all experience levels will be considered)
Proficiency and work experience with statistics and risk evaluation, programming experience is a plus
Extensive knowledge of portfolio risk modeling, risk mitigation plans and governance risk policy
Experience with the banking or insurance risk mitigation is a plus
Experience with the cooperative business model or electric utilities is a plus
Proficiency with MS Office products, with an emphasis on MS Excel
