Position Summary: Under the Direction of the Business Manager, responsible for providing support to the accounting department by assisting with accounting processes including budget, reconciliation, material inventory, annual audit among others. Provides quality member services and assists the accounting department as directed.

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties are as assigned:
Assists in budgeting process; ensures departments are utilizing software properly and produces quarterly departmental reports for distribution.
Tracks and reports operating budgets and assists department managers in reviewing and explaining budget performance.
Completes assigned duties of the work-flow process.
Assists in performing review and reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers with general ledger control accounts including material inventory, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
As directed, provides general support to accounting functions.
Assists in accurately maintaining accounting files.
Assists in, prepares, or provides monthly, quarterly and annual compliance/regulatory reports to member organizations and federal, state and local agencies.
Assists in compiling financial information for monthly board meeting, year-end audit and others as requested
Assists with general administration activities as directed
Assists accounting department with scheduling and travel arrangements
Provides general administrative support, including filing, copying, scanning and file management of financial documents
Assists in tax reporting including 1099s, 990s etc.
Responds to general member service inquiries either by telephone or from walk-in members related to member accounts, billing inquiries, payments, high bill concerns, member complaints, notification of outage incidents and other service order type activities.
Process and updates member service orders within the customer information system, including new member connects, transfers, meter exchanges, trouble calls and high bill concerns.
As needed, tracks and prepares reports of member service activities.
Determines needs of customers and general public visiting MEC office, escorts or directs to the proper person or department for desired information and/or assistance.
Answers telephone, route calls and takes messages for all departments. Makes outbound calls to members as needed.
Prepares letters, memorandums, reports and work on special projects as requested.
Prepares and processes standard member correspondence related to member service function.

Certifications/Licenses: A valid Class D driver’s license is required.
Knowledge: Basic understanding of how PC based Window’s software operates. Basic spreadsheet and word processing skills.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Education/Experience: Associate’s Degree with a focus in finance and/or accounting or equivalent from a two-year college or tech school preferred; one to two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
