Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc., the 9th largest electric cooperative in the nation, located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accounting Manager. Clay Electric is located in north Florida, with easy access to beaches, outdoor activities and both college sports and NFL.
Individual in position allocated to this class supervises a major division of Finance and Administrative Services. Primary responsibilities include the development, implementation and evaluation of financial and tax reporting, treasury services, Capital Credits administration, funds management, audits, budget preparation, work planning and compliance with government and regulatory agencies.
Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Essential Job Functions:

Advise and Assist the Chief Financial Officer. Plan, develop and implement realistic and effective programs, budgets, procedures and practices in the functional areas assigned. Provide reports and information regarding progress so the CFO may effectively evaluate results
Coordinate. Coordinate the flow of information to and from the Accounting Division for the preparation of journal entries, property records, central contract file updates, etc. Coordinate and develop all non-routine accounting projects such as budgets, audits etc. including the preparation and distribution of all non-employee federal, state, local and other tax returns. Coordinate the calculation of over- and under-collections of actual power cost billed to customer and the preparation of related journal entries.
Provide Assistance and Guidance. Provide assistance to departments in functional areas assigned to the Accounting Division which includes assisting the departments so they may effectively discharge their assigned responsibilities and secure the desired results. Provide functional guidance on record retention and coordinate the archiving of financial records.
Supervisory Functions. Oversee the development of all financial reports, to include those provided to the Board of Trustees, Staff and other departments. Perform supervisory functions including performance appraisals, training, direction and advice.
Safety. Practice safe work habits in the performance of all job duties and be familiar with and follow those portions of the Cooperative Safety Manual that pertain to the position. Comply with all traffic laws and related safety rules.
Representation. Participate in organizations and meetings at the local, state and national levels where the objectives of the Cooperative can be served.
Other Essential Duties. Perform other such duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or the Chief Financial Officer. Assist and support other Accounting staff in the performance of their assigned duties.
Minimum Training and Experience:
This position requires a four (4) year college degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and five (5) years of recent experience in electric industry accounting or finance, plus additional certification (CPA, CMA, or equivalent).
Additional education may be substituted for the experience requirements on a year for year basis.
Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge in financial software applications and experience using NISC software is preferred.
This position requires knowledge of human resource management principles and motivational techniques as well as knowledge of accounting and finance administration, treasury management and budget analysis.
This position requires the ability to speak effectively and communicate with others both orally and in writing.
This position requires the ability to deal with confidential information.
Individuals in this position must have experience with, and knowledge of, accounting information systems and proper internal controls. Also, individuals in this position must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Individuals in this position must be able to use business equipment, calculator, personal computer, etc.
