This position is responsible for managing the cooperative’s power system planning and applications engineering functions including work plans, system improvement plans, integration, dispatching, SCADA, communications infrastructure, data analysis, distribution automation, distributed energy resource programs and field and technical engineering services. This position is also responsible for overseeing the Cooperative’s key accounts programs.
In addition to directing and overseeing all engineering department activities, the VP of Engineering also:
Participates as a member of the President & CEO’s executive staff in the development of the Cooperative’s operating practices and policies, strategic objectives, long-range forecasting and financial planning.
Works with direct reports to develop the annual work plan and budget for the engineering departments. Assists other departments in the development of their annual work plans and budgets.
Performs cost/benefit analysis and works with operations, information technology and accounting to study and select viable technologies to carry out the strategic initiatives of the Cooperative.
Continually analyzes workflow, procedures and policies, implements minor changes, and submits recommendations for major changes to the President & CEO.
Keeps informed on all policies and procedures; interprets engineering policies to the immediate staff and to all employees in the engineering department.
Resolves internal and external problems while keeping the President & CEO apprised of serious situations.
Conducts and assists with establishing objectives and strategic plans for the cooperative.
Assists in the resolution of member problems or complaints.
Develops monthly board reports and delivers board level presentations as requested.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Professional Engineering Registration required.
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electric utility engineering design.
Cooperative experience preferred.
