Western Iowa Power Cooperative (WIPCO) is currently seeking applications to fill a Journeyman Lineman position at our Denison, Iowa office. Located in Crawford County, Denison and the surrounding area is a wonderful place to spend free time including hundreds of acres of hunting and fishing areas, one 18-hole and two 9-hole golf courses, an indoor/outdoor aquatic center, many parks and other special attractions. Denison also has close access to excellent healthcare and is a very affordable place to live and raise a family, while being located around one hour’s drive away from Omaha, Nebraska and one and one-half hours’ drive from Sioux City, Iowa and Des Moines, Iowa.

Applicant must possess a thorough knowledge of electricity and electrical systems, ability to climb poles, and mechanical aptitude. Applicant must be able to construct and maintain both overhead and underground power lines in a safe and efficient manner. The ability to operate a bucket and digger truck, trencher, backhoe, cable plow, and various other equipment is also required.
Completion of a technical school Line Worker Program is preferred. First Aid – CPR certification, a Class A CDL and a Journeyman certificate from an approved apprenticeship are required. Pre-employment/post job offer physical examination and drug test required.
Must be available during all weather conditions, to work on-call duties after hours, weekends, holidays, evening, and other times outside normal work hours to assist in service restoration and/or other emergencies that may arise.
