Under the direction and supervision of the General Manager, the Operations Manager shall:
Be responsible for all personnel and activities in the line department including construction, staking, operations, and maintenance of the Cooperative’s transmission, distribution, substations and transportation equipment.
Participate in the preparation of department annual budgets, construction work plans, and long range system planning.
Develop and promote adherence to all established safety rules, regulations, and practices.
Be responsible for meeting Cooperative’s established system reliability and safety objectives.
Ensure efficient and safe use of company resources.
Promote a high standard of morale among employees of the department.
Must have high school diploma, valid Kansas driver’s license, and ten years’ experience as a journeyman lineman, or equivalent, and be thoroughly familiar with all phases of line construction, operations and maintenance.
Have five years’ experience preferred in supervision, direction and coordination of employees’ activities.
Be thoroughly familiar with overhead and underground RUS construction specifications and drawings and be familiar with NESC and NEC specifications and codes or be willing to become familiar within a reasonable time frame.
Have the ability and willingness to communicate in exchanging information clearly and concisely with position’s supervisor, employees and the public.
Have the ability and willingness to provide day to day technical assistance for engineering and operations personnel with emphasis on safety, efficiency, system integrity and reliability.
Have the aptitude to develop, organize, and evaluate plans and programs, make rational independent decisions, and develop reasonable solutions logically and objectively.
Demonstrate a willingness to assume responsibility for all activities in the line department and the performance of each employee under his supervision.
Have the skills and ability to operate assigned equipment associated with the position.
Maintain bona fide residence within twenty-five minutes of assigned office.
Have a genuine concern for the quality of service being rendered to all cooperative members and consumers.
