The Board of Directors of Delaware County Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DCEC) invites applications for the position of CEO/General Manager (CEO). DCEC is a member-owned electric cooperative that provides safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to its residential, seasonal, farm, industrial, and commercial members in portions of Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties on the western edge of the Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York. DCEC’s service territory attracts many visitors to its mountains, ski areas, rivers, streams, and reservoirs.
DCEC is a full requirements wholesale power customer of the New York Power Authority (NYPA). DCEC has annual revenue of $9 million, net utility plant of $22 million, 24 full-time employees, and 5,400 member services. DCEC has achieved 99.2% coverage of fiber-based broadband service to its members in partnership with two local telecommunications companies. DCEC is moving into a new headquarters facility in September of 2020. DCEC is building a 2 Megawatt solar facility outside its largest substation in partnership with NYPA and the State University of New York at Delhi. DCEC has a strong financial position with stable and competitive retail rates. DCEC is fortunate to have several large commercial and industrial members who contribute to the financial health of the cooperative and to the economic vitality of the communities we serve. The existing DCEC leadership team is posed to support a smooth transition for the new CEO.

Successful CEO candidates will have the ability to lead a safe and productive team, enhance positive workplace culture, contribute to and manage financial goals and objectives, deliver results consistent with DCEC’s strategic plan, have high integrity and honesty, share a commitment to the 7 cooperative principles, demonstrate enthusiasm for building and maintaining partnerships with cooperatives and others. It is preferred that candidates have, at a minimum, 5-10 years at an electric utility with a minimum of 5 years of experience at the senior management level. Cooperative experience is preferred. In addition, a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
