The Human Resources Generalist partners with the Human Resources/Safety team to coordinate, implement, and develop OTEC’s employee development and public safety programs, and to ensure program compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, including OSHA, EEO, HR Law and other applicable areas.
Contributes in developing employee relations, employee engagement and an effective work structure and environment. Prepares internal employee communications. Helps organize and manage new employee orientation, on-boarding, benefits enrollment, and training programs.
Participates in recruiting and outreach functions, including attending job fairs, and developing a network with employment groups, sourcing associations, and schools. Posts job openings, arranges interview schedules, and participates in interviews.
Assist in administering employee benefits and wellness program. Provides accurate information and assistance to cooperative personnel and retirees regarding benefit offerings and programs. Fields employee questions with benefits administrator for additional information or clarification.
Administer HR functions including but not limited to maintaining personnel files, and preparing, organizing, compiling, and updating HR databases and reports.
May administer, implement and coordinate HR-related programs, such as service awards, special recognition, safety awards, location newsletters, etc.
Assist with creation, updating and administering of HR/Safety policies and procedures; administering training record keeping in coordination with HR team and others as relevant.
Participate in the coordination, implementation, and development of OTEC’s employee and public safety programs
Collaborate with the Manager of Safety and Loss Control to coordinate incident response and process related insurance claims. Assists with the processing of claims for work related injuries. Forwards claims to the worker's compensation carrier in a timely manner.
Participation in cooperative strategy and initiatives; assist with implementation and tracking of certain initiatives
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
High school diploma or equivalent
Five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
