Position Summary: Lead, plan, and direct all activities of the Mechanical Maintenance Department of the Jack County Plant to achieve a high degree of plant reliability and availability while working in a safe, efficient, and economical manner.
Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities: Promotes and requires compliance with safety and environmental policies and procedures, maintains safety awareness and promotes all aspects of BEPC’s safety program in a compliance culture that promotes continuous improvement and proactive measures. Reviews and manages mechanical maintenance work order and preventative maintenance backlog to schedule detailed work activity. Analyzes emergency trouble reports and inferior performance in plant equipment and coordinates with operations and maintenance personnel to determine best corrective measures. Develops and improves mechanical maintenance procedures. Determines requirements for tools, parts, materials and supplies and prepares purchase order requisitions. Prepares reports on maintenance activity and maintains files for maintenance history, equipment instructions, and drawings. Lead, direct, coach and supervise the mechanical maintenance department and other assigned staff to maximize productivity and performance. Provide regular employee feedback and evaluate performance using the corporate performance appraisal process. Coordinate technical employee training based on identified needs of technical skills. Foster a positive work environment and administer BEPC’s policies and work rules.
Education & Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent certificate High school diploma or equivalent certificate and served a related apprenticeship with 4 years’ experience as a journeyman in an electrical generation facility. Or, a high school diploma or equivalent certificate and military experience equivalent to a state indentured apprenticeship program. Or, a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance or operations of an electrical generation facility.
Physical and Environmental Requirements: Requires working inside and outside of an electric generating plant in varying weather conditions and temperature extremes with extreme ranges of humidity and dryness. Requires working in areas of constant high noise and vibration levels. Requires lifting, pushing pulling or carrying of weights equal to 50 pounds or more. Requires climbing ladders and stairs. Requires wearing personal safety equipment. Requires hearing within normal range, hearing aids are permitted. Requires vision within normal range, corrective lenses are permitted. Requires 24-hour on-call availability. Must live within a 45-minute response time to the plant. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
