In collaboration with the Director of Communications, assists with planning and preparing internal and external communications materials.
Essential Job Functions:
Assists in creating internal and external communications materials, including print and media-based platforms.
Assists with providing immediate information via multimedia on relevant news and other member-related or employee-related information to the public as appropriate.
Plan, develop and execute a yearly internal communications plan.
Plan, develop and coordinate timely internal communications through various internal communication channels.
Maintain all internal communications channels.
Develop and publish a timely employee newsletter.
Provide continued enhancement and maintenance to Tri-County Electric Co-op’s intranet.
Coordinate, in partnership with the Director of Communications and co-op staff, employee events and activities.
Coordinate the production of internal training videos.
Assist with communicating employee beneficiary committee events and activities.
Protects the use of the employee beneficiary committee brand.
Provide communications support to various departments to enhance internal and external communications.
Assists with planning member events or townhall meetings.
Assists in the planning and coordination of the Annual Meeting and board election.
Creates and edit speeches, presentations, scripts, etc. to be used by Tri-County Electric Co-op staff.
Provides proof editing and revising of cooperative communications, including but not limited to, print publications, multimedia, advertisements, etc.
Assist in creating promotional material and communicating Tri-County Electric Co-op’s Youth Tour and Scholarship programs.
Assists with video production projects.
Assist with continued enhancement and maintenance of Tri-County Electric Co-op website to enhance member communication and engagement.
Collaborate with communications department creative services and design.
Assist with photography, as needed.
Stay up-to-date with new media trends and co-op industry changes.
Provide support to the Director of Communications with other communications-related needs.
Reports to: Director of Communications
Responsible for keeping the Director of Communications informed of work in progress and completed work and ensures ongoing consultation relative to any problems that hinders the efficient completion of the duties and responsibilities associated with the Director of Communications position.
Coordinates or cooperates with:
Human Resources Department - Coordinates, cooperates, and develops communications pieces to enhance internal communications.
Employee Benevolence Committee - Coordinates, cooperates, and develops communications pieces for committee events and activities. Assists with protecting the use of the committee’s brand.
Member Services Department - Coordinates, cooperates, and develops communications pieces to enhance member engagement.
Marketing/Business Development Department - Coordinates and cooperates and develops materials for marketing plan and follows branding requirements.
Other employees - Coordinates development of good working relationships with the personnel in other departments and strives to enhance effective and open communications between departments. Confers with, advises, informs, and directs cooperation with other departments to assure compliance with the goals and objectives of the cooperative.
Members and public - maintains friendly, cooperative relationships with the members and the public in the performance of the duties and responsibilities associated with the Communications department.

After hours work is required due to occasional planned events, storm-related events or emergency events. Occasional travel to related conference, training, and meetings.

High school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED)
College degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business or related field.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Experience using Adobe products (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, etc.)
Proven communication skills and the ability to work with the coworkers and the public.
The skills to resolve conflicts and deal with difficult personnel matters in a professional and effective manner.
Being well organized, able to multitask, and ability to effectively organize and schedule other individuals and projects to meet scheduled timelines.
Ability to handle stressful, and/or emergency situations, in a calm and organized manner.
Ability to work independently with a minimum level of supervision.
Must be very motivated and able to work in a team-oriented environment with assigned responsibilities and be able to complete all assigned goals and objectives in an accurate and timely manner while following up with Tri-County Electric Co-op members and/or fellow employees to insure high-quality service.
