Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC) is seeking a highly motivated, attention to detail, dynamic General Ledger Accountant to join our Accounting team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Analyzes, adjusts and reconciles various complex general ledger accounts on a monthly basis to ensure they adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Evaluates and recommends changes for the chart of accounts to the Controller.
Reviews and monitors daily CIS/GL balance reports to ensure both systems are in balance.
Prepares, reviews and analyzes the monthly, fiscal year and operating year financial statements.
Prepares the annual financial statements as required in CFC (external party) format.
Assumes a leadership role in the monthly, fiscal year, and annual closing processes to ensure deadlines are met.
Seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and five years of related high level detailed accounting experience. Electric utility accounting experience and CPA preferred. The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for complex accounting activities of supporting accurate and timely closing of the general ledger, analyzing financial information, providing leadership, solving complex accounting issues, and preparing financial reports.
