About Us Beacon Broadband, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative, Inc. established in 2020 to serve the Oregon south coast and extend the high-speed fiber experience where no one else will go. Primary Purpose The Beacon Broadband Network Engineering Director is responsible for the optimum functioning of all services offered on Beacon’s regional fiber to the premises XGS-PON system. The Director must have exceptional technical skills and will serve as the highest point of escalation for technical issues in the organization. Additionally, the Director must competently manage staff and interact effectively with the management team, vendor representatives, counterparts from CCEC, and others. This position is a member of the Beacon Broadband leadership team. Network Management Functions Edge Routing - Design, implement, and manage edge network
- Implement and manage security measures at edge network
- Monitor edge network performance and take necessary corrective actions
- Manage relationship with edge network provider(s)
- Coordinate root cause analysis and change management with edge network provider(s)
- Distribution Network
- Design, implement, and manage distribution network
- Monitor distribution network performance and take necessary corrective actions
- Ensure technical performance of distribution network meets all regulatory and funding condition compliance requirements
- Manage root cause analysis and change management of distribution network
- Customer Experience
- Manage all services delivered over the network
Management Functions - Integral member of Beacon Broadband management team
- Manage Network Operations Center and network operations technicians
- Manage Field Technicians and installation services
Other Functions - Perform other functions as assigned by the management team

Supervisory Responsibility Network Operations Team(s) and Field Services Team(s) Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Travel Occasional travel within the Beacon Broadband service territory. Occasional travel to training seminars and/or conferences. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- Seven years of related experience required, with prior management experience preferred.
- Formal network engineering certifications or proof of technical training and experience required.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications - Strong MS Office Suite skills.
- Reliable transportation for getting to work.
- Must be free from illegal drugs; may be subject to random and /or suspicion testing.
