To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have strong customer service, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills; and the ability to assist callers in a professional manner at a level acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and two years of office and/or customer service experience. This position works 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and days on a rotating basis, and on an on-call scheduled basis. Overtime may be required, as needed. Experience with personal computers in a Windows environment and with Microsoft Word and Outlook is required. The incumbent must possess or be capable of obtaining a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification. This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. The incumbent must be able to hear alarms and have good color vision to observe color weather radar and color indicators on security systems. The incumbent must be able to quickly make decisions, follow procedures, relay vital information, and coordinate resources. In stressful situations, the incumbent must be able to perform extensive work with very little outside contact at a control console. |
