The Fiber Accounting Specialist is responsible for coordinating and completing the accounting books and financial reporting for CVEC Fiber. This includes providing accurate financial and accounting records and ensures CVEC Fiber is in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and industry guidelines. This includes providing complete and accurate financial and accounting records and maintaining the integrity of the CVEC Fiber general ledger and financial statements. This position works closely with the Cooperative Accounting team and CVEC Fiber team.
Maintains accounting operations for CVEC Fiber. Maintains CVEC Fiber general ledger and fiber work order analysis/closing.
Assists in making daily, weekly, and monthly adjustments and journal entries for approval.
Assists with the financial planning and investments activities for CVEC Fiber. Maintains line of credit between CVEC Fiber and the Cooperative. Manages CVEC Fiber lease records and payments.
Monitors cash management in conjunction with the Manager of Finance and Accounting Department employees.
Coordinates and reviews all tax and regulatory compliance filings related to CVEC Fiber. Maintains adequate records to complete monthly, quarterly and annual compliance filings required by Board of Trustees, local, state and federal agencies.
Coordinates the completion of all state and local tax filings related to CVEC Fiber. Maintains compliance with state or federal funding programs utilized by CVEC Fiber.
Assists with the month-end close process for CVEC Fiber and the Cooperative. Prepares and enter journal entries. Maintains projects and chart of accounts in relation to journal entries. Analyzes and reconciles accounts, intercompany transactions and projects while researching any variance between actual and budgeted results.
Education and Experience
Education should be in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Work experience may be substituted for the education requirement as well as additional education may be substituted for work experience.
Bachelor’s degree and 1 years’ experience OR
Associate’s degree and 3 years’ experience OR
Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
Must have and maintain a thorough knowledge of Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Products and standard Accounting procedures.
Oral and Written Communication - Ability to speak and write clearly and accurately; with the capability to design and effectively communicate network system needs.
Mathematical Skills – Ability to understand and apply mathematical concepts used in accounting.
Technical Skills – Able to comprehend and operate standard office equipment efficiently.
Computer Skills – Knowledge of spreadsheet applications and word processing software; strong personal computer skills; standard office equipment is used in the completion of duties.
