Maintain the warehouse in such a manner to ensure easy accessibility of materials and supplies and to eliminate hazards, making sure that proper stock level is maintained at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supply line crews with materials and supplies for work orders and service orders
Order routine material; make sure stock items are supplied
Document all material transactions to assure accurate documentation of materials retired and used
Complete paperwork and computer entries documenting receipts and distribution of material to properly account for material transactions in accounting software
Assist crews and contractors with material needs when requested
Train entry level lineman, and staff upon request, in identifying materials and stocking procedures (e.g. barcoding units and software)
Perform periodic and annual material inventory counts to assist with inventory control as needed or requested (Native and military contract warehouses)
Check material received against receiving slip/purchase order to insure accuracy of shipment
Assist driver's loading/unloading transformers and other materials with the use of the forklift when requested
Pick up supplies when necessary from local suppliers
Maintain warehouse orderly and store material in proper place, free from hazards
Keep inside and outside storage area neat and orderly at all times
Report hazardous conditions or needed maintenance to supervisor
Evaluate items for salvage, return or retire and restock as necessary
Input material ticket items into database
Prepare packages for shipping to assist in a timely delivery and receipt of needed items
Provide custodial services and grounds work for the warehouse and storage yards to provide a safe and orderly warehouse (including the office area upon request)
Participate in training programs for job knowledge and technical skills (including safety meetings)
Perform other duties as requested from time to time
Learn and comply with Cooperative's safety rules and procedures
Maintain confidential information
Qualifications:
Two years' experience in purchasing and/or materials management desired
Ability to count and compare values (to determine wire gauge, footage per/lb. of wire, etc.)
Ability to use chart to figure quantities (wire, gallons)
Ability to use computer, calculator, adding machine
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to use proper tools, such as, but not limited to, two-wheel dolly, fork lift, electric hoist
Must have or willing to acquire knowledge of accounting procedures applicable to assigned duties
Must be or become forklift and Skid Steer certified (OSHA training required every 3 years)
Knowledge of purchasing, accounting, and inventory control preferred
Knowledge of RUS authorized materials preferred
Ability to work independently and with other department personnel on various projects and work assignments
Possess a valid Texas drivers' license
Insurable with the Cooperative's auto insurance carrier
Possess or and written communication skills in the English language
Possess good interpersonal skills including the ability to maintain a harmonious working relationship with all Cooperative employees
Must be or become certified in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Working Conditions:
To ensure all employees are provided with drug free and alcohol free working conditions, pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable cause and random drug and alcohol tests are conducted on all employees
Work outside under various weather conditions
Some overtime hours may be required
Subject to travel, including multiple over/night stays
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to wear safety glasses, goggles, back support belt, safety shoes/boots, hearing protectors, and gloves in accordance with safety procedures
Exposure to, but not limited to, weather, heights, noise, dust, vapors, fumes, hazardous material, moving mechanical parts and confined spaces
Required to pass a physical examination when employed
Must have sufficient health to perform the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of the job
Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of weights
Sitting/standing/walking for extended periods of time
