Heartland Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Heartland), headquartered in Girard, KS is seeking qualified candidates for a Member Service Technician position in its Mound City, Kansas office.
Heartland is an innovative electric cooperative that is focused creating value for its consumer-members for the next 80 years by completing projects that will increase electric reliability and improve efficiencies at the cooperative.
Being a mid-sized electric cooperative, the member service technician will be asked to do many tasks. This position will help build the next generation electric system and requires an individual who is curious, innovative, self-driven, and motivated. No two days will be the same at Heartland.
Some of the responsibilities you will have at the cooperative:
Performs miscellaneous meter repairs, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) retrofits and programming, and routine troubleshooting of the AMI system.
Install, read, and perform maintenance on residential, commercial, and industrial meters.
Possesses or acquires skills needed to perform minor electrical maintenance; repair security lights, install misc. outdoor boxes and receptacles.
Collects and documents system patrol and reports needed repairs and maintenance to the electric system.
Observes and reports meter tampering, power diversion, and other irregularities to supervisor.
Performs locates on underground facilities and completes underground facility inspections.
Required to know how to read maps and prepare required reports.
Responds to member and consumer inquiries and resolves problems and/or directs them to the supervisor or appropriate personnel; maintains good relations in all contacts with the public.
Receives and accepts training, instruction, and advice from assigned supervisor and cooperates with him/her in performing assigned tasks.
Complies with all the Cooperative's Safety Rules and uses safe working practice and methods.
Must have and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license. High school diploma or equivalent required. Three years of work experience. Outdoor work is required in a variety of weather conditions. Occasionally working outside of normal work hours will be required.
