The Benefits Analyst administers group health, wellness, and retirement benefit plans, including but not limited to eligibility, enrollment, changes, and termination of benefits. Supports the design, management, and administration of paid time off, leaves of absence, income replacement programs, and accommodations. Assists in the execution of corporate and HR programs and processes to meet organizational needs and comply with state and federal laws. This position requires a close partnership with external vendors and cross-functional partners to ensure the effective delivery of these benefit programs.
Responsibilities
Administers health and welfare benefits enrollment processes for new hires, qualified life events, and work events for employees, dependents, retirees, and surviving spouses. Provides counsel concerning documentation requirements and benefit coverage options and responds to questions and concerns. Provides professional counsel and assistance in retirement planning.
Administers medical-related leaves of absence to include short-term disability, long term disability, Family and Medical Leave Act and Workers’ Compensation. Coordinates Return-to-Work Fit-for-Duty assessments for employees on leave of absence with eligible positions.
Reconciles and request payment for monthly group insurance invoices and retirement plan invoices, to include the coordination of necessary billing adjustments. Reconciles and remits HSA contributions following each payroll cycle.
Develops and maintains key metric dashboard reporting for Human Resources Division.
Serves as system administration of human resource information system (HRIS), UKG, for Benefits, Human Resources and Payroll functions. Supports administration of HRIS updates, system conversions and/or implementation.
Compiles and ensures accuracy of reporting compliance for the cooperative’s Affirmative Action Plan (AAP), Equal Employment Opportunity Reports (EEO-1), Veteran’s Employment Reports (VETS-100). Informs management and staff of changes or revision.
Compiles and ensures accuracy of regulatory compliance with various benefits related regulations and guidelines. Distributes Summary Plan Description (SPD) and Summary of Material Modification (SMM) notifications in accordance with compliance requirements. Ensures adherence to record retention requirements and HIPAA and other information security related policies and management guidelines.
Participates in the planning and execution of annual benefits open enrollment to align with Total Reward strategy. Participates in the development of the annual benefits recommendation and renewal process. Develops communications materials to communicate benefits changes. Participates and conducts employee open enrollment meetings.
Presents benefits orientation sessions with newly benefits eligible employees to include health insurance coverage and group life insurance options. Educates new employees concerning the 401(k)-pension plan and the RS pension plan, if applicable.
Administers life insurance benefits to beneficiaries including processing death notices and information and interfacing with the family of the deceased in a compassionate, considerate and efficient manner.
The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, plus at least 4 years of benefits experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) certification
