Sunflower is hiring a Manager of Substation Systems. This person will oversee substation, metering, relay, and transmission asset management staff.
This position may be located in Great Bend, KS or in Garden City, KS.
Sunflower is a transmission and generation utility seeking a Manager Substation Systems who can ensure collaboration and coordination between substation, protection (relaying), metering, and other functional areas of the utility. The Sunflower team is looking for someone who can develop and foster working relationships between Sunflower, Members, and third parties and who can implement strategies and processes that ensure transmission assets and work practices remain in compliance with criteria set forth by regulating authorities. Implement strategies and processes coordinating with other departments within Sunflower.
Provide expertise in managing, planning, and scheduling of all substation construction, repair, maintenance, and protection.

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and ten years’ experience in substation, system protection, and metering construction, operations and maintenance practices and procedures, three of which are in supervision or project management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations and policies associated with environmental and safety practices.
Seasoned knowledge in substations and their components, protective relaying, and metering applications.
