Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC), a progressive south-west metro member owned utility with 100 employees is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer to join our growing team. An Electrical Power Engineer will support MVEC’s and MVUS’ (Minnesota Valley Utility Services) electrical engineering needs by applying technical knowledge, sound engineering judgment and skill to further the strategy of the Cooperative.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide day to day technical support to Distribution Designers, including; design, layout and staking of overhead, underground, C&I distribution lines, and RUS coding & environmental requirements.
Complete line design, field staking, and easements.
Assist with the development of construction specifications, including updating of electronic staking software, equipment inventory and accounting records.
Liaison to Accounting to assure accuracy, invoicing and completion of Work-Orders/Staking-Sheets and annual review of schedule of charges.
Develop and maintains distribution line specifications and materials.
Assist in the development and implementation of load control strategies positively impacting rates and power-supply.
Provide day to day Engineering Services to MVEC/MVUS in the areas of planning, sectionalizing, design review, RUS accounting and coding.
Provide MVUS support for general engineering to MVUS clients.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering with power emphasis
Possess a Professional Engineer (PE) certification (preferred), or able to obtain within 18 months of employment
FE Exam completed and EIT Certified
5+ years of related power distribution experience
3 years of leadership and/or Project Management experience
Valid driver’s license
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
In-depth knowledge of distribution system engineering, construction and operations.
Familiar with safety codes, Rural Utilities Service (RUS) requirements, and other standards that apply.
Ability to organize a project into defined tasks and delegate to appropriate personnel.
Ability to work with diverse interests and be able to debate controversial issues when making objective decisions.
Good analytical, interpretative, interpersonal, complex problem-solving and decision-making skills.
A strong working knowledge of Milsoft Engineering, Electronic Staking Software, Auto CAD and ESRI/Milsoft Mapping.
Represent the Cooperative with professionalism and integrity when in contact with co-workers, members, the general public, consultants, contractors, vendors or other businesses.
