General Manager South Dakota Rural Electric Association Pierre, SD The South Dakota Rural Electric Association (SDREA) Board of Directors is looking for their next GM and is working with NRECA Executive Search on this search. This position is open due to the upcoming retirement of their existing long-standing General Manager. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, self-starter that is skilled at building relationships and interpersonal communications. SDREA’s next leader will need to be forward thinking with a focus on the association’s membership. The South Dakota Rural Electric Association is devoted to unifying, promoting and protecting the interests of its member electric cooperatives in South Dakota by providing leadership, training, communications and legislative representation. This position works closely with SDREA’s 9 employees to provide value to the association’s 28 distribution cooperative members and 3 generation and transmission cooperative members. In addition to the above, key qualifications for the next SDREA General Manager include: - Demonstrated leadership and management skills

Other Experience and Expertise: - Bachelor’s Degree required; an advanced degree such as a MBA, is a plus
- Completion of NRECA’s Management Internship Program is preferred
- Education or Experience in Accounting & Finance; Business Administration or Marketing/Member Services is preferred
- 5-10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience preferred
- CEO experience preferred but not required
The strongest candidates will have established governmental agency relationships in South Dakota or at a minimum, the drive to build such relationships. Demonstrated electric cooperative understanding will also set you apart. SDREA is located in Pierre, South Dakota, a picturesque city with tree-lined streets, parks, and a historic downtown.
