We are looking for a few great people to join our dynamic team of Electrical Engineers, GIS and field technicians. The Utility Inspection Specialist is one of our front line positions at STAR. As a Utility Inspection Specialist, you will be trained to examine and assess the location, condition and treatment of wood utility poles. You will also receive training to become proficient with identifying maintenance needs and assessment of other utility assets such as pad-mount enclosures. Familiarity using iPads, tablets, computers and basic software apps is essential.
A desire to work independently and outdoors is required, this position will require periodic overnight travel in Minnesota and Iowa.

The ideal Utility Inspection Specialist candidate enjoys working outdoors and operating UTVs. Duties include inspecting electric utility equipment and recording findings in hand-held devices such as iPads and tablets.
Preferred Qualification: Completion of or enrolled in line worker program
High school diploma
Valid driver’s license
Available to travel to job sites and temporarily relocate during the work week
Able to lift up to 60 pounds and perform physically demanding work
Able to obtain DOT Health Card
Able to pass written exam to obtain commercial pesticide applicator licensure
Ability to use various data collection devices and learn new software and applications based on job assignment
