(Rural Electric Apprenticeship Program) on your way to becoming a Journeyman lineman. This position is responsible for various construction and maintenance functions to support the operations of portions of six counties in Northern Indiana. This includes working with poles, overhead and underground equipment, hot-line tools, and excavating equipment and power tools. You’ll also assist with the installation of oil circuit reclosers, electronic reclosers, poles, capacitors, regulators, SCADA operated equipment, switch gears, vaults, manholes, conduits, security lights, and other line equipment as needed. To maintain our excellent service reliability with our members, you’ll often be on the emergency 24-hour stand-by rotation to help restore power when needed due to vehicle accidents and storm-related outages. However, being one of the national leaders in reliability means fewer callouts, and for lower durations, so you’ll be home with your family more often. Experience and Special Qualifications - One year experience as a Groundman II or equivalent
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License and a valid Class A commercial driver’s license or have the ability to obtain a Class A commercial driver’s license within three months of working in this position.
- Ability to become certified in CPR and perform first aid.
- Must be accepted into the Rural Electric Apprentice Program (REAP).
- Knowledge of the operation and construction of medium voltage utility systems.
- Familiarity with electric utility safety rules and regulations.
- Basic computer skills.
Physical Qualifications As a lineman, your job will include a variety of physical demands, including but not limited to: climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, reaching, standing, lifting, some repetitive motions, and visual acuity.
