Responsible for development, coordination and maintenance of training and safety records in compliance with Cooperative Energy and regulatory standards. Responsible for data management of information for reporting, audits and scheduling. This position supports the Director of Safety Compliance in the job functions that are related to safety.
Essential Job Functions:
Manages a variety of software applications for incident investigation/reporting, tracking of safety activities, internal safety audits and reports to outside agencies.
Manages and maintains all compliance records as required by OSHA and DOT.
Manages application of Safety awards and provides necessary reports to other departments
Collects and maintains incident information and investigation records and distributes reports to management.
Tracks and trends reporting incidents and calculates injury frequencies for corporate and OSHA compliance.
Offers technical expertise and consults on hazard recognition and control, risk management and behavioral modification
Maintains and updates emergency response plan as it relates to safety.
Coordinates and manages the safety training program and development of training presentations and materials.
Responsible for assignment and documentation of safety related training utilizing the company's software applications(i.e. Halogen, EBS, IMS, CDL, etc.).
Composes, types, proofs, and edits complex correspondence, legal documents/contracts, memos, tables, reports and publications using word processing, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing software; and uses moderate independent judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness.
Collects information from files and/or staff assigned to the organizational units and prepares routine inquiries and periodic reports.
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information related to regulatory agencies, vendors, personnel matters, outside contractors, injuries, medical and various other business related matters.
Prepares requisitions, purchase orders, and handles receiving for department using computerized purchasing/inventory program
Maintains a calendar of activities, meetings and various events for assigned departments; arranges for conference rooms; and makes travel arrangements as required.
Acts as custodian of departmental documents and records.
Establishes and maintains filing systems.
Administration of contract documents.
Communicates with other departments to maintain positive relations, and to obtain needed information and support.
Uses a computer and appropriate software including database, spreadsheet, and word processing software and programs to obtain, organize and maintain information.
Supports and assists personnel and contractors with respect to OSHA compliance.
Provides support in the development and administration of Cooperative Energy's safety policies and programs.
Coordinates employee involvement in safety related events and assists with employee relations efforts.
Participates and assists with safety committee functions; provides training as needed.
Assists the Senior Vice President of Compliance.
Travels to company sites to support safety training and activities.
Education:
Associate's Degree
Plus safety related experience
Bachelor's Degree
Plus safety related experience
Experience Requirements:
4 years Safety Administration Experience Plus Associate's Degree
2 years Safety Administration Experience Plus Bachelor's Degree
Certifications and Licensures:
Valid Driver's License Required
Successfully pass a security sensitive background screening. Required
OSHA 30 Hour Course Preferred
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Preferred
Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) Preferred
Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
Ability to interpret and apply OSHA and DOT regulations.
Knowledge of legal terminology, legal format and standard legal instruments.
Excellent grammar, proofreading, and English composition skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to prepare a variety of correspondence from rough drafts or verbal instructions.
Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential and professional manner.
High level of initiative, effort and commitment toward completing assignments accurately and efficiently with attention to detail.
Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations relative to the position.
Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, plan, and stay on schedule to meet deadlines.
