Appalachian Electric Cooperative (AEC) provides electric service to 47,000 members in East Tennessee. We own and maintain an electric distribution system that covers 600 square miles in parts of Grainger, Hamblen, Hawkins, Jefferson, and Sevier counties. We currently have an opportunity for a Communications and Marketing Supervisor in our New Market, Tennessee office. The Communications and Marketing Supervisor leads, plans and manages the day-to-day operations of AEC’s communication and marketing efforts. - 2 years recent experience in a supervisory role in Communications and Marketing
- 5 years of relevant work experience is required
- Prior experience in a utility desirable
- Bilingual/Spanish is a plus
Essential Job Functions - Supervise the staff of the Communications and Marketing department
- Develop and manage an annual Communications and Marketing budget
- Responsible for the design and implementation of AEC’s communication and marketing plan.
- Develop and manage AEC’s marketing communications, magazine articles, newsletters, social media posts, and advertisement copy
- Create and implement the Communications and Marketing strategic objectives to meet the goals of AEC’s strategic plan
- Responsible for researching stories, writing articles, designing content and publishing AEC’s section of the Tennessee Magazine, AEC’s member newsletter and the Hotline internal newsletter
- Direct the design and execution of AEC’s electronic and social media efforts; including but not limited to; AEC’s website; Facebook, Twitter, etc.
- Represent the coop speaking to the media, community, and members to deliver AEC’s message
- Responsible for providing communication input to member surveys, and other engagement with membership that requires strategic communication messaging
- Coordinate advertising and design projects with agencies ensuring accurate AEC messaging
- Available as needed outside of normal work hours to assist during emergency or outage situations
- Regular on-time attendance is required
- Able to lead and work in a collaborative team culture
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and assignments to ensure meeting deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs
- Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premier Pro
- Available as needed outside of normal work hours to assist during emergency or outage situations
- Regular on-time attendance is required
- Occasionally lift, push/pull, and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and color vision
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
