We are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant who will provide senior-level analysis, planning and leadership for NOVEC's corporate budget, financial planning and forecasting, cash management and investments, debit management, financial system reporting and corporate system implementation and upgrades. This position will assist in preparation of financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities.
Duties/Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead budgeting process from development to implementation including related procedures and systems. Provide technical support and guidance to the company on budgetary issues.
Prepare applications and document, as necessary, for financing activities. Evaluate funding requirements and investment of surplus funds. Operate cash flow model and reports. Advise management on short and long-range investment opportunities.
Develop, analyze and report short and long term financial forecasts.
Maintain effective external relationships with banking and investment institutions. Evaluate services offered and implement new banking related programs.
Lead system implementation and upgrades for portions of the financial systems.
Assist SVP, Finance and Asset Development and Accounting Manager with financial analysis of proposed new business ventures and with problem solving analysis.
Develop and maintain loan portfolios re-pricing and amortization schedules and summaries of principal and interest.
Perform month-end close activities including, but not limited to, posting journal entries, preparing account reconciliations and preparing and analyzing data reports.
Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Provide cross-training and mentoring with peers.
Work continually towards self-development to stay current on accounting, tax, budgeting, and financial procedures and practices.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Ability to apply (and adhere to) an understanding of accounting principles, financial management, cash management, and statistical methods.
Knowledge of general accounting, budgeting, and debt and investment management.
Senior-level financial systems skills, accounting theory knowledge and experience, problem solving, skills, communication skills, and professional attitude.
Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.
Ability to handle and maintain integrity and confidentiality of highly sensitive management information and records.
Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels within the organization.
Ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer and business needs by quickly refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction.
Ability to think ahead and plan over a short and long-term focus.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software preferably an advanced user in Excel.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline is required. Five to seven years of Accounting and/or Finance experience is required. Must have directly related experience in a role that was progressively responsible for accounting, planning and budgeting at a corporate and/or divisional level.
