The Board of Directors of Lamar Electric Cooperative, in Paris Texas is seeking a General Manager/ CEO. The current General Manager/CEO will be retiring in the first quarter of 2022. Lamar Electric is a member-owned electric distribution cooperative committed to providing safe and reliable electric service to our member owners. The service area borders the state of Oklahoma on the North side. The cooperative currently serves almost 13,000 accounts in North East Texas with 34 full time employees, 2,400 miles of distribution line, 11 miles of transmission line, annual electric revenue of $24 million and approximately $82 million in total utility plant. Lamar Electric participates directly with the ERCOT energy market and is not affiliated with any G&T. The cooperative is a 100% CFC borrower.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the cooperative. They will report directly to and is accountable to a nine-member Board of Directors who are elected by the Membership. The successful candidate must have excellent people skills and the capacity to think strategically while promoting cohesion and team building within the employees. The General Manager is responsible for efficient and cost-effective operations and guides the performance of the management team. Ability to relate to the rural members with integrity and high business ethics is a must. Candidates are preferred to have a minimum 5 years of progressively responsible work and supervisory experience in the rural electric cooperative industry and a bachelor’s degree in business, electrical engineering, accounting or related field. A working knowledge of the ERCOT market is desired.
