The Claims Management Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the response for all member damage claims and facility damage claims.
Primary Position Responsibilities
Review and investigate member damage claims and all types of claims. Coordinate assistance from operations when necessary to determine the cause of the damage by inspecting scenes of accidents and determining causes. This includes power quality issues such as outages. Prepare written report of findings and propose recommendations for correction. Coordinate appropriate information and documentation with the Risk Management Supervisor for claims to be submitted to insurance carriers. Document and approve payments to be made by CoServ for damage claims.
Liaison with insurance carrier counsel in defending CoServ against lawsuits and potential lawsuits related to claims for damage, line contact and other lawsuits as may be assigned. Manage outside experts that may be required to investigate certain events. Collect and preserve evidence, coordinate responses to information requests and coordinate CoServ employee depositions. Represent CoServ at depositions. Keep CoServ management and primary outside counsel apprised of the status.
Investigate the person or company responsible for damages to CoServ property. This may include onsite investigation and interviews with contractors and others. Assist the Risk Management Supervisor with processing information leading to invoicing the responsible party including obtaining police reports.
Assist Collections with meter tampering when requested.
Responsible for maintaining the integrity of confidential information.
Familiar with CoServ’s standard concepts, practices and procedures.
Complies with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.
Secondary Position Responsibilities
Remain on-call for accidents/incidents and assist and back-up Risk Management Supervisor, must be available 24/7.
Performs other duties and activities as directed.
Education and Certifications Required
High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency.
Education and Certifications Preferred
10 years’ experience and knowledge of electric distribution systems.
Knowledge of Cooperative's tariff policies, rules, regulations and procedures as they relate to safety, loss control and prevention.
Demonstrated experience with accident investigation and claims management.
Class A Lineman or higher.
Skills and Abilities Required
Customer service and claims resolution skills.
PC skills, Excel and word processing experience.
Ability to perform basic math and algebra.
Ability to coordinate with attorneys and legal experts.
Skilled in Enterprise GIS technology.
Skills and Abilities Preferred
Works both in the office and outdoors.
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
Drives company vehicle as needed.
Operates office equipment such as a computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.
Ability to sit for long periods of time.
May be on site at accident locations or other emergencies.
Works in potentially hazardous conditions caused by pets and wildlife in or near the work site.
Works in areas with possible exposure to poison oak, poison ivy, and insect stings.
Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license
