Responsible for consumer relations, receiving payments, resolving consumer inquiries, and interpreting consumer billing questions. Creates service orders for maintenance of system and informs/dispatches service crew of utility service issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greets persons visiting and receives incoming phone calls. Determines the information or service being requested and performs service required or directs the person to the appropriate employee or takes messages as needed to promote the organization's goal of service excellence.
Receives consumer payments both via mail and over the counter, then ensures proper coding and keying of payments to ensure that consumer accounts are properly credited and deposited on a timely basis.
Provides consumers with billing information such as billing dates, delinquent dates, and associated late charges, bill amounts, and collection date and collection charges both in office and over phones.
Receives interruption report from consumers, transmits information to service personnel by radio and makes appropriate interruption report when service is interrupted and restored.
Creates service orders for new service, termination of service, meter changes, disconnection and reconnection for non-pay, and other service requests.
Assist members with various products sold by the Co-op (electric grills, surge protection, cookbooks, and etc).
In addition to these responsibilities, may be assigned by the Member Services Manager to perform other duties from time to time.
Two years of prior experience as a cashier, receptionist/secretary, or customer relations is preferred.
Must have a working knowledge of business office practices. Continuing education in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases preferred. Knowledge of rural electrification and cooperative programs (rates, billing, and collection policies) helpful.
Abilities and Skills:
Must be well organized, personable, and able to exercise discretion and use sound judgment in dealing with people and confidential information.
Must possess excellent computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Must possess excellent communication skills in English, both in written and oral forms, and be able to communicate with the general public and co-workers.
Must be able to lift/move 25 pounds or more, as necessary without external assistance of personnel or mechanical aids.
The individual must be able to perform arithmetic functions.
Bilingual (Spanish) abilities are preferred.
Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License with a good driving record.
This position is primarily a sedentary position, which requires sitting most of the time inside an office building with the usual office conditions. This position will normally have regular hours of work with irregular volumes of activity. This position requires exertion of up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. Light lifting of generally 25 pounds or less is required. This position requires the individual to perform repetitive motions and possess manual dexterity for duties such as dialing and keyboarding. The individual must be able to use office equipment such as a copier, facsimile, calculator, computer, and printer.

Central Texas Electric Co-op (CTEC) received its charter from the State of Texas on June 19, 1947. CTEC is a non-profit organization that is owned and controlled by the people it serves.
CTEC provides electric service in 11 counties: Gillespie, Llano, Mason, Kimble, San Saba, Blanco, Kendall, Kerr, Real, Menard, and McCulloch.
