Qualifications: To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have a background in analytical chemistry which is acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in Chemistry, or a Chemistry minor and one year of related analytical experience. Successful candidates must have a solid understanding of general chemistry concepts and organic chemistry concepts in order to learn DGC testing protocol. Good interpersonal skills are required to perform as part of a small team with significant responsibility.
Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands: Requires continuous hand coordination and lifting/carrying up to 5 pounds. Entails frequent hand grip of 5 pounds, sitting, walking, standing, bending, reaching above and below shoulder level, and the ability to use a keyboard/computer. Requires occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, including assisted lifts over 50 pounds, hand grip up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 25 pounds, stooping, pinch grip of 10 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, use of tools and foot controls, and turning valves. This job requires the ability to read, write, perform arithmetic, weigh and measure, analyze data and reports, conduct research, present information to others, and work under pressure. Requires finger dexterity, color vision, binocular vision, hearing, ability to speak and perform close work. Works continuously with chemicals and operates laboratory instrumentation; exposed occasionally to dirt, dust, extreme heat, cold, and poor ventilation.
