The Fiber Network Technician participates in the implementation and maintenance of network systems including the hardware, software, cabling and other data and voice communications equipment and functions to provide optimum data and voice services to CVEC Fiber customers. Oversees home and business installations. Provides escalated technical support for customers and resolves complaints.
Assists with back-office networking required for administrative support of the day-to-day operations of the fiber network required to provide data and voice service.
May assist in the maintenance of day-to-day security of networks and servers including operating systems and applications.
Implements network connectivity for LAN and WAN connections, including documentation of network connections.
Supports tier one technical support by providing continuous and accurate information to front line employees.
Provides tier two support to customers so they can access the network successfully. Provides in-home technical support for customers who need additional help after install.
Assists with tier three coverage.
Preforms quality control inspections of contractor work for home installations.
Provides installation of services to anchor institutions and businesses and maintains a positive working relationship.
Provides fiber splicing as needed to maintain a well-functioning and reliable fiber network.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.
2 or more years of experience in a server or network role.
Must have and maintain a thorough knowledge of Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Product. Knowledge of Juniper and Calix products preferred.
