Alabama Rural Electric Association (AREA) is seeking a Digital Media Specialist with graphic design skills to administer AREA’s social media marketing, manage the digital presence, and maintain the positive reputation of the organization and our statewide magazine, Alabama Living, in print and online.
The candidate must have a good graphic sense and demonstrate a strong knowledge of best practices and industry-standard software. S/he will assist in editing and designing pages for Alabama Living magazine each month. S/he should be able to operate with a high degree of autonomy, but be a clear, candid, and effective communicator while working closely with our communication staff. S/he should be motivated, reliable, thorough, and excited about developing print materials and converting them to engage with AREA’s and the magazine’s growing online audience.
Day-to-day Activities Include:
Assist with editing and design of Alabama Living magazine pages.
Create and design content for websites and social media. (Specifically, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.)
Create a regular publishing schedule and promote content through social advertising.
Management of brand awareness and online reputation.
Create and publish relevant, original, high-quality content for all channels including content to supplement stories from AREA’s printed magazine, Alabama Living.
Ensure style guidelines are being applied consistently on all materials.
Develop relevant pathways to reach Alabama Living’s target readers and reach new demographics.
Monitor, listen and respond to users in a “social” way while cultivating relationships.
Willingness to participate in ongoing education to remain highly effective in the field.
Monitor effective benchmarks and best practices for measuring the impact of social media campaigns. Analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns to maximize results.
Must be proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
Should be highly competent in WordPress.
Highly competent in all social media platforms and appropriate benchmarking tools.
Demonstrated skill in written and oral communication.
Able to present ideas and strategies to all levels of the organization.
Able to perform duties in a Mac or Windows environment.
Shooting and editing video.
Google analytics and SEO certifications.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Experience in a professional setting where you have created, implemented, and executed social media strategies that complement or correspond with print advertising or other published content.
