We have an immediate need for an accountant who shares our core values to join our growing team.
The accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the timeliness and reliability of financial reporting for BARC’s electric operations and its growing list of diversified services. These diversified activities currently include solar, generator and fiber (broadband) services. A key focus of this position is on timely preparation of accurate financial reports and maintenance of underlying G/L and subsidiary records. It also includes assistance with accounts payable, bank reconciliations and credit refunds, among other accounting-related tasks.
Maintains general ledger and subsidiary records. Maintains fixed asset records.
Prepares monthly Form 7 and other financial reports, as directed.
Maintains internal controls to protect integrity of financial records and Cooperative assets.
Completes timely payment of all state and federal taxes.
Acts as a contact point for auditors in preparation of work papers and answering questions.
Reconciles daily cash and other important financial accounts. Monthly reconciliation of bank statements and credit card activity.
Assists with processing of certain key vendor accounts payable.
Conducts all special invoicing (e.g. pole attachments, damage billings).
Prepares special reports and conducts special projects when requested by senior management team.
Two or more years of previous accounting experience in a business setting required.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles required.
Prior experience with rural electric cooperative accounting preferred, but not required.
