The major duties of the electrical engineering job are to design, oversee, and provide staking support for engineering projects such as new service line extensions, line relocations, reconductoring projects, VDOT projects, subdivision design, joint use agreements, “make-ready” preparation, distribution system upgrades, and overhead and underground line construction. In addition, this job will have the responsibility of maintaining and updating electric system models, outage models, and map related services. This job will assist with the preparation of engineering studies that improve the operation and reliability of the cooperative’s electric distribution system, such as long range and construction work plans, environmental reports, power factor correction, sectionalizing, load balancing, line loss, reliability studies, spill prevention plans, and small generator interconnects. This job will also assist with procurement, inspection, testing, and maintenance of substation equipment, such as transformers, breakers, regulators, reclosers, capacitors, etc., and assist with investigation and rectification of power quality complaints and net metering applications.
