The Training Manager position is to develop employees of Midwest Energy, through the company’s technical training programs. The Training Manager develops programs and ensures standards for advancement are met. This position collaborates with leaders to identify training needs and deliver applicable programs.
The Training Manager provides direction to apprentices, and all Midwest Energy employees through the monitoring of work practices and procedures. The Training Manager performs on-site investigations to verify that crews are working safely and efficiently to meet OSHA requirements and industry safe work practices.
The Training Manager facilitates field safety training meetings and assists with development of designated safety programs, safety initiatives, and compliance programs; including accident investigation and root cause analysis.

Proficiency in establishing and achieving company goals through procedures and projects to ensure compliance.
Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with consultants, vendors, contractors, industry organizations, other utility companies.
Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication to correspond with customers, community members, cross-functional teams, co-workers, and managers.
Demonstrated analytical skills and intermediate-level proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite; demonstrated ability to utilize technology for training delivery, e.g. audio-visual equipment.
Two-year post-secondary degree, or equivalent experience or a combination of experience and education, with an emphasis in the power industry, utility maintenance or construction or related area. Certification as a Trainer is a plus.
At least 5-years progressive experience in the gas and/or electric utility industry required.
Experience in the practical application of job training and safety skills required.
Must possess a sound knowledge of principles and practices used in the electric and gas transmission and distribution line facilities. Must be familiar with DOT, OSHA Rules and Regulations, National Electrical Safety Code, National Electric Code, and NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) Handbooks 54 & 70E
Must hold and maintain a valid Kansas Driver’s License, Class A Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
First Aid and CPR certification required, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
