As an Engineering Representative, you will help fulfill the purpose and vision of our organization: “to power communities and empower members to improve the quality of their lives.” Located in Metter, GA, Excelsior EMC is just 65 miles west of Savannah, GA. Successful candidates will develop skills that will enrich their knowledge as they mature into the role with increasing responsibilities.
Engineering Representative Job Duties:
Perform required work in surveying, staking, mapping, pole inspection, maintenance and construction specifications.
Stake all lines according to RUS Specifications and requirements of the National Electrical Safety Code.
Post new additions and alterations to system maps using CAD(Computer Aided Design) software.
Obtain right-of-way easements.
Draw up job orders and staking sheets.
Obtain highway and railroad permits and estimate relocation and line extension costs.
Performs drafting work on a routine basis.
Serve as after-hours Team Leader and helps answer telephone and dispatch personnel in outage and emergency situations.
Provide excellent customer service.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational/Technical school degree or two years of college level courses in technical field required. Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university is desired.
Equivalent Experience: A minimum of five years of utility experience may be substituted for some educational requirements.
Experience: Previous electric utility experience in engineering or operations desired, but not required.
Special Skills: Must be able to organize and plan projects. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Unique Circumstances: Outdoor work is required in a variety of weather conditions in addition to a normal office environment. Occasional work outside of normal work hours will be required.
