Scope of the Role
Under the guidance of the Director of Power Delivery, the Power Delivery Engineering Manager (PDEM) will play a major role in areas that directly impact the operational success of Golden Spread and its Member Cooperatives. These areas include Generation, Transmission & load modeling, system impact studies, stakeholder engagement, and management of Engineering Technicians working on delivery points and various member programs.
The Power Delivery Engineering Manager (PDEM) will play an important role to ensure that all Golden Spread Electric Cooperative’s (GSEC) generation and the transmission and load-serving facilities of its Member Cooperatives are accurately modeled at the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). The PDEM will keep submitted modeling documentation as evidence and will be the SME for compliance with relevant NERC standards. The PDEM will provide all needed information regarding modeling to ERCOT and SPP to fulfill regulatory modeling requirements. The PDEM will play a role in performing system impact studies with member cooperatives and transmission planners and will work with internal and external personnel to advocate for reliable, cost-effective, non-discriminatory transmission solutions for member cooperatives.
The PDEM will be involved in assigned ERCOT and SPP Stakeholder Meetings, as determined by the Director of Power Delivery. The PDEM will actively monitor and advocate issues surrounding modeling and system impact studies that directly impact GSEC’s members and GSEC’s generation resources. The PDEM will be engaged in internal and external meetings related to modeling and system studies in both SPP and ERCOT and could have a voting seat on certain stakeholder groups.
The PDEM will manage, develop, and work with Engineering Technicians as they fulfill their roles in the establishment of new delivery points, UFLS & manual load shed, and various renewable and distributed generation programs GSEC coordinates with member cooperatives.
Experience with Siemens Power Transmission System Planning PSS®E
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, Electrical Engineering preferred
Five years of related experience and/or training is preferred.
Management experience is preferred.
A professional engineering license is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally with others inside and outside of the company, including Golden Spread staff and management, Board of Directors, third party O&M contractor personnel, and outside consultants
Ability to perform detail work with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to maintain effective working relationships, internally and externally.
Demonstrated experience in promotion of and working in a team environment
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
The ability to work with forecasting and production personnel
Ability to organize work to meet deadlines
Electric modeling and system connectivity
Knowledge of load flows on transmission and distribution networks.
Three-phase power, system losses, and metering.
