South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Director of Procurement.
Responsibilities include managing, supporting, and providing leadership to our Purchasing team. This position will work to align the supply chain with the utility’s strategic goals. This position serves as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure that organizational needs are met in a manner that provides a competitive advantage to the cooperative in terms of service, costs, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of equipment, construction material, supplies and services required by the Cooperative in accordance with RUS purchasing requirements and will develop policies and procedures relating to the purchasing function. Provide periodic reporting on inventory, and operational efficiency as well as inventory metrics.
Candidates should have experience in a supervisory position involving leading and motivating persons in a team effort, developing plans, programs, budgets, goals and controls to measure results. The successful applicant must have the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with the capability to effectively teach, mentor and coach personnel to achieve desired performance. We are looking for a team player who is able to regularly facilitate discussions among other cooperative personnel relating to purchasing activities so that deadlines can be met. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong project management abilities and must have experience that reflects strong leadership and management skills.
This position will directly oversee the activities of two (2) Corporate Buyers as well as the Warehouse Supervisor and personnel. The Director of Procurement reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will work out of the Lancaster office.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess advanced knowledge of the RUS purchasing requirements. A bachelor’s degree in business, procurement, materials management or related field is required. Certified Procurement Manager status must be obtained within three (3) years. A minimum of five years of experience in an electric utility in warehousing, inventory control, line work, engineering, and/or work order/plant accounting is required with two (2) of those five (5) years serving in a supervisory position.
