South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Service Desk Administrator.
Responsibilities include operation and maintenance of the IT Service Desk infrastructure and the IT Desktop and Workstation infrastructure including hardware and software. Maintain and support the existing Active Directory environment, as well as providing first level support and triage for all incoming service desk tickets across multiple IT disciplines. The position will be the primary liaison between the user base and the IT department and as such will present a positive, reaffirming, and professional decorum during every user interaction. This individual will assist in developing maintenance planning, upgrades, and future planning for end user workstations and systems. The individual must be able to troubleshoot complex, multi-layered technical issues while working closely with all IT personnel and leadership.
Candidates must have exceptional written and oral communication and soft skills. Strong organization, problem solving and troubleshooting skills as well as a strong acumen for user training and end user support with a primary focus on user support and documentation. Candidates must demonstrate a desire to grow in knowledge and skill set within the realm of IT Systems Administration and Engineering.
This position will report to the IT Systems Manager and work out of the Lancaster office.
Other essential functions include:
Field multiple types of services calls for systems, networking, applications, and mobile devices.
Provide first level support of all incoming user issues via phone, remote connection, and in person in a timely manner.
Manage and Administer the IT Service Desk software as well as identify opportunities for improvement.
Image and distribute new user assets as well as re-image previously utilized assets. Also show acumen for researching and suggesting future solutions for workstation management
Update, maintain and adhere to existing policies, procedures and training plans.
Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights utilizing the standards set forth by the organization.
Inventory and supply including relationships with vendors and monitor and document supplies as they arrive.
Proficiency in most current versions and builds of Microsoft Windows and Office365 products, as well as first level experience with Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 operating systems.
Understanding of VMWare platforms and products.
Undergraduate degree or comparable experience is required.
The candidate will be required to obtain applicable certifications during their work tenure and pursue continuing education in the applicable disciplines as determined by the IT Systems Manager.
A minimum of two years hands-on experience in IT workstation and service desk administration.
Strong working knowledge of user side technologies including hardware, applications, printing, security standards, and networking principles.
