Responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of transmission and substation facilities. Manages bargaining unit personnel within the Delivery Services Department consistent with the current IBEW agreement. Assures proactive maintenance of facilities and equipment to maximize useful life and efficiency of operations. Ensures that the Vice President, Operations and other management personnel are informed of work project schedules and delivery system risks / opportunities. Assures compliance with all NERC and RRO reliability standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assures the highest possible system reliability by performing maintenance activities in a timely and efficient manner. Plans and schedules maintenance activities consistent with industry standards and CMMS objectives. Performs project construction as required by the corporate business plan. Ensures that maintenance records and as-built drawings are provided for recording into computerized databases.
Assures compliance with power delivery related RFC/NERC Compliance Standards focusing on maintenance records management and right-of-way clearing requirements. Maintains Hoosier Energy’s rights-of-way to industry standards in a cost effective and efficient manner
Plans, organizes and coordinates departmental activities including decisions about hires, terminations, promotions, training, development and task assignments of immediate subordinates.
Assures that personnel are well trained and that opportunities for skills improvement are provided through collaboration with the Safety and Training Department. Makes scheduled work assignments and assure that emergency situations are responded to in a timely manner. Stresses safety and efficiency in all work activity. Evaluates performance of reporting employees and encourage them to further their development and continually improve their performance.
In cooperation and coordination with other stakeholders, manages power delivery’s inventory in such a manner as to meet audit objectives, maintains minimum levels of inventory for emergencies and secure / track remote inventory at either project locations or area sites.
Sets goals and objectives for power delivery through the annual work plan and budget process. Encourages all department personnel to strive for efficiency and cost control. Be open to new ideas and methodologies. Follows industry trends and best practices to assure continual improvement.
Communicates with and assist members systems and neighboring utilities as needed. Comply will all NERC and RRO reliability standards by holding immediate subordinates that are SME’s or EP’s accountable.
Associate’s degree in any of the electronics or engineering technology disciplines minimum. Experience will be considered in lieu of a technical degree
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Eight years of progressive responsibility in the operation, maintenance and construction of transmission system facilities.
