We are currently looking for a Leader, Transmission Technical Services who will be responsible for developing and leading technical services as part of the Transmission Line Engineering and Survey department.
The primary responsibilities of this role are:
·Leading Transmission Line Engineering Technicians to meet design, standards, and drafting requirements.
·Providing project engineering and storm response assistance for the Transmission Division.
·Developing and leading line commissioning and as-built verification.
·Leading the Transmission Line Prioritization team to make decisions related to maintenance engineering activities.
·Developing methodology for review of emerging line technologies and managing their implementation.
·Supporting strategic initiatives.
Additional job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
·Supervising, coaching, and assisting the Transmission Line Engineering Technicians to maximize productivity and teamwork.
·Performing engineering and storm restoration support.
·Setting a strategy for Transmission Technical Services work group considering emerging technologies and regional and national influences the support system growth.
·Leading the development of best practices in maintenance engineering based on GRE’s system and data analytics.
·Developing and managing a line commission program.
·Knowledge typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related technical field AND six + years’ experience in transmission or distribution line design engineering.
·A minimum of five years in a role that demonstrates leadership.
·Professional engineer registration in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin is preferred.
·Knowledge of process improvement concepts and methods along with the flexibility and adaptability to accept, support, and deploy new processes in a changing business environment.
·Knowledge of the electric utility industry relating to analyzing transmission systems, inter-utility connections, critical system components and safety standards.
·Skill to create and implement plans aligned with the division’s strategic vision.
·Skilled at effective communications at both technical and leadership levels. Skills must include good interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills, and ability to understand information and ideas as presented.
·Skill in developing and delivering effective presentations
·Skill in conflict resolution including the ability to address difference of opinions or facts and use of the most appropriate method to reach an effective solution.
·Ability to effectively coach and foster staff growth and development
·Ability to evaluate and motivate personnel.
·Ability to negotiate by collaborating with others to arrive at a conclusion using compromise, persuasion, rationale, and diplomacy.
