South Central Indiana REMC (SCI REMC) is a not-for-profit electric distribution, fiber services, member-owned cooperative. The cooperative is a leader in distribution technology and is headquartered in a new and progressive facility in Martinsville, Indiana. SCI REMC serves seven counties including Morgan, Monroe, Owen, Brown, Johnson, Putnam, and Clay with over 3,650 miles of energized lines and 33,905 meters serving 29,100 members.
The Fiber Division of SCI REMC offers quality broadband services to homes and businesses plus fiber transport systems to ensure a reliable network service with a high level of member/subscriber experience satisfaction. The implementation project is about half completed and is fast moving with nearly 6,000 residential members connected in the first two years and continues to grow quickly.

This key position’s general responsibilities include:
posting ad-hoc changes to the existing GIS system as informed by Operations, Engineering, and System Operators.
posting changes to the existing GIS system.
posting completed fiber drop maps and fiber plant work orders to GIS system.
maintenance of the electric and fiber connectivity models within the GIS system for use by the OMS, map viewer, and engineering software.
collection and posting of field GIS and inventory data into the GIS system.

Two years of vocational or technical school training with focus on CAD or GIS mapping software. Training in computer technology a plus.
Minimum of two years’ experience in a position with related job duties such as GIS mapping, engineering, drafting, or computer aided design preferred.
Must have the ability to operate a personal computer proficiently.
Must be capable of operating and maintaining various databases such as SQL, Access, and Geodatabases.
Must have the ability to create and maintain records, files, and reports which will be used by REMC personnel.
Must be capable of drafting in and maintaining accurate ESRI based distribution system inventory maps.
Must be capable of working with different file formats in an ESRI environment (AutoCAD, PDFs, KMZs)
Must be capable of communicating actively with management, employees, members, personnel from other organizations, and the general public.
Must be a team player, able to work effectively on a daily basis with a variety of individuals and departments.
Must be capable of collecting field data under varying terrain conditions.
Must be regular in work attendance.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
