Directs the activities of a multidiscipline and multidirectional G&T Cooperative engineering team with focus on: Systems Reliability, System Planning, Strategic Asset Management, Cost Management and Continuous Improvement. This will be accomplished while implementing and leading teams through the principles of Operational Excellence.
The Manager, Engineering Services will lead Hoosier Energy’s corporate engineering teams who focus on Power Systems Design, Reliability and Asset Management, and System Planning to assure Hoosier Energy’s generation and transmission systems (and Member Distribution systems as requested) are designed and maintained to meet safety, reliability, and regulatory (MISO, NERC, FERC, IEEE, etc.) standards. The Engineering Services team will continuously collaborate with Member Systems, the Project Management Office (PMO), Operations, and other key stakeholders in the development, prioritization and execution of routine O&M and Capital workplans, RUS workplan and economic development.
The Engineering Services team will focus on grid resiliency, grid hardening, and system reliability while ensuring Hoosier Energy is prepared for adapting to future requirements including proliferation of DERs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and oversite of Hoosier Energy’s corporate engineering teams on the pursuit of Operational Excellence to achieve the highest value and system reliability for member systems.
Leads Engineering Teams in transmission, generation, substation and communication project design through coordination with PMO, generation facilities, member systems, interconnected utilities, the Midcontinent ISO and RUS. Coordinates with economic development, member systems, governmental authorities, and interconnected utilities to assure regulatory compliance and system reliability.
Responsible for system planning, engineering design, and asset management with a focus on long-term maintenance sustainability, grid hardening, grid resilience, and integration of future distributed resources.
Represents Hoosier Energy in working closely with the Managers and staff of member systems, Midcontinent ISO, RUS, RFC, and neighboring utilities. Acts as Hoosier Energy’s representative at various meetings or conferences with the authority to plan, negotiate or decide certain matters.
Leads Hoosier Energy’s Strategic Asset Management Program. Oversees the development and implementation of reliability-centered maintenance and the condition based maintenance strategies. Provides oversight to ensure maintenance plans and schedules meet or exceed the requirements of all corporate, state and federal regulations and compliance standards.
Provides leadership and mentoring to departmental personnel through the delegation of appropriate responsibility and authority. Complies with all NERC and RRO compliance standards by empowering ownership and holding departmental personnel accountable.
Serves as Hoosier Energy's representative and coordinates activities within the North American Transmission Forum
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering minimum
Graduate degree in Business or Engineering Management preferred
Professional engineer registration in the State of Indiana preferred
10 progressively more technical responsibility in the electric utility industry, with combined experience in facility planning, maintenance planning, system protection and power delivery design minimum
3 years supervisory experience minimum
